Islington Deaf Campaign and Liberty

Islington Deaf Campaign received 11 pages from Liberty Human Rights about Eugenics and deaf genes. Please read all 11 pages (not few pages), which explains about human rights about Clause 14 of HFEB. We believe that all should access to the information.

Please feedback or leave a comment.

Please all support the march on 12 April to remove Clause 14.

I think this is very heavy reading for the average deaf person frankly, I rather fear having waded through it, Liberty are saying you haven't a case to pursue you have a chance of winning. Since it doesn't prevent a deaf child via IVF.

What the campaign urgently requires is a deaf couple, who are in IVF and want a deaf child, then the Human Rights machine will move in and help, you need to see someone in the flesh.

The wording of the clauses is deliberately vague (They always are !), so there are always different 'interpretations' to be mooted. I fear the feedback from Liberty may undermine you...

There is a great need for a 'BSL' version of all this because the text in English will deter deaf from reading further...
